Fingernail and Toenail Problems


Fingernails and toenails have different kinds of problems.

Kinds of fingernail and toenail problems:

1.      Brittle nails. The most common fingernail and toenail problems are caused by dryness due to the usage of products that contains harsh chemicals.
2.       Nail shingles. It is also caused by drying, usage of products that contains harsh chemicals and heat.
3.       Nail injury. Injury could be caused by trauma or hard pressure on your nails.
4.       Fungal infection. Fungus could also infect your nails like psoriasis.
5.       Allergic reaction. Your nails could also be a cause from an allergic reaction due to exposure on chemicals.

Tips on reducing fingernail and toenail problems:

1.       Avoid nail biting. Biting could infect your nails. Your saliva causes a lot of bacteria. The bacteria on your saliva could be passed on your nails and could irritate your nails.
2.       Wear vinyl gloves when washing clothes or when doing other household chores that involves the usage of detergents and cleansers to protect your nails from harsh chemicals.
3.       Keep your nails short to avoid them from getting cut or to avoid them from getting damaged.
4.       Be careful when doing heavy works to avoid your fingers against trauma or hand pressure.
5.       Use moisturizer soap, cream and lotion on your fingernails and toenails to prevent them from drying.
6.       Apply petroleum jelly on your fingernails and toenails whenever you are resting and when going to bed at night to avoid dryness.
7.       Avoid cutting your cuticles. It shields against bacteria and virus.
8.       If your toenails are infected by fungal infection, apply anti-fungal cream to heal.
9.       Avoid your hands and feet from long exposure to water to avoid from dryness.
10.   Minimize the usage of nail polish or acetone. These products contain chemicals that you’re might be allergic to and could cause dryness on your nails.
11.   Check your nail cosmetics for expiration dates to avoid fingernail and toenail problems.
